This was my first visit to Turkey (visit to the 7 church sites /areas where Jesus told the apostle John -book of Revelations-to relay His words to) and I was completely won over by our tour guide Volkan Akalin. His enthusiasm for his own country and the wonderful heritage it has, his thoughtfulness, mannerliness, extensive knowledge and great sense of humour definitely were highlights of our time in Turkey. I felt I could learn a lot just observing how very well Volkan communicated with everyone- he listened actively and responses were so thoughtful. His enthusiasm for places we visited and his lightness of spirit greatly helped us bond as a group and laugh a lot. Volkan, you are very welcome anytime you get to visit N Ireland. We sought a Turkey-based tour company for a quality on-the-ground experience. Felicity topped the list for great reviews and owner Ertunga Ecir offered a fast, personalized response to our inquiry. He was a fun and creative partner in trip planning - refining our ideas, helping allocate time, and guiding us to great hotels and experiences. He was flexible in dealing with special interests plus the late addition of a traveler. The trip was attractively priced and proved a great value. Ertunga and his wife Maria were easily available by phone, email and text before and during the trip. We spent 5 days in Istanbul with Ege Akdag as our superb guide; 3 days in Cappadocia; then followed the Silk Road to the coast, seeing many ancient cities off the beaten track as well as many well-known highlights along the Aegean. We were delighted to have Ertunga join us in Cappadocia and guide us through the better part of our two-week trip. His knowledge is encyclopedic but it pours out of him in interesting stories and anecdotes that bring history and locations to life. Time on the road was also a great experience: Ertunga’s vans are spotless and comfortable, with wifi and experienced drivers and best of all, it’s more time for Ertunga to share insights into modern day Turkey. It's clear he loves his country & he makes it easy for visitors to fall in love with it, too. Every experience where Ertunga chose the hotel, restaurant, or vendor was top quality - from the Cappadocia balloon rides and pottery demonstration to the carpet weavers and more. I’d wondered about the included lunches but they were a highlight of the trip. As a result of Ege and Ertunga’s careful selections, we experienced a delightfully broad spectrum of traditional Turkish foods in far more interesting settings than we could have ever found on our own. And best of all, we’d asked about a culinary experience and Ertunga arranged for us to dine and enjoy a cooking lesson in his aunt’s home. His aunt and uncle were gracious hosts, serving us a tasty home-cooked meal and teaching us to roll stuffed grape leaves, bake bread and make Turkish coffee. Much fun was had by all! All three couples on our trip have extensive travel experience on multiple continents. We agreed our trip with Felicity was tip-top, that we were right to have had no concerns about geo-political disturbances elsewhere, and that Turkey is a fabulous place to visit. Six of us traveled first to Istanbul where our guide, Ege, took us to major sites and less known sites in this beautiful, safe city. Ege was prepared with admission tickets and transportation. A highlight, among many, was a private boat ride on the Bosphorus where we viewed historic houses and neighborhoods. We flew to Capadocia and were thrilled by the unique landscape and our charming cave hotel. Our guide, Ertunga, made each excursion seamless and significant. His knowledge of the long history of civilizations in Turkey was deep and helped us understand the complex waves of people who lived here. We had a special lunch at Ertunga’s aunt’s house. She had prepared the multi-course dishes. Then she showed us how to make a couple of the dishes ourselves. Fun! The ingredients in all of our meals in Turkey were so fresh, tasty and colorful, also healthy. We highly recommend Felicity Travel and Ertunga to all. Turkey is safe, affordable and fascinating.Posted on TripadvisorVerified Amazing (Safe) Trip to Turkey This was an amazing 14 day tour for 3 couples that included 6 days in Istanbul, and touring Cappadocia to Ephesus with visits to 10 ruins. Ertunga worked with us on shaping and reshaping an itinerary that gave us the trip that were hoping for. The logisitics were totally worked out in advance to make everything seamless. Our drivers were also super accommodating. I have a bad back and never lifted a suitcase on this trip. Hotels and meals were excellent Our guide in Istanbul, Ege, was personable, knowledgable and was well versed in history but also everday life in Istanbul. He was also very flexible in terms of making changes on a given day that we requested. Ertunga, who heads Felicity, was our guide from Cappadocia (trip highlight not be missed) to Ephesus as we toured the major ruins, cities and temples along the Silk Road. Ertunga has a great easy going personality and is incredibly well versed in both the history of the sites but also accompanying stories about the gods, rulers and key characters who had a role in the building and shaping of these cities WE FELT TOTALLY SAFE THROUGHOUT OUR TRIP. In addition, we also visited Hierapolis, and Colossae. It was a well organised tour visiting 9 places over a 4-day period. We went as a group of seven people, excluding the tour guide and driver, and used a mid-size van which was equipped with aircon and Wi-fi. Quite a comfortable atmosphere. Our driver Mr. Thailand was like a very nice grandfather, always smiling and polite. Our tour guide Volkan Akalin was pleasant, polite, helpful, accommodating, and knowledgeable in guiding us with the different sites of interest. Our tour company Felicity was also very receptive to our request in changing for a better hotel on our last night. This tour is best suited for people who wants to learn about how early Christians lived in the first two centuries, and how our modern day churches can learn from their strengths, weaknesses, or failures. My recent travel to Turkey with Felicity Travel with my friends was the best travel experience I ever had so far. First time to Turkey and despite some initial concerns before leaving for safety given the issues in Iran, we felt completely safe while there. Ertunga was fantastic.
